What do you do with your camera?

Hello everyone. In two weeks I%26#39;ll be in Maui and plan on doing a few of the MR hikes to some of the different snorkeling spots in south Maui. I%26#39;d like to bring my camera along for some of the scenery but I%26#39;m not sure what to do with it once I want to go into the water. Any suggestions?

foolish person that I am I leave it in my bag. I have never had a problem with anything being stole from me. I have asked people who seem decent if they would keep an eye on our stuff for me before. I have also had people ask me the same.

We also left our stuff on the beach, under our towels. We would check now and then to see that no one was around our stuff. We may have just been lucky, but we had no problem. Most people there are the same as yourself. We never carried much money with us and my husband had a water proof pouch he carried the credit cards and keys in. Have fun and try not to worry too much.

I put my camera in a waterproof casing meant for diving, but works great for snorkeling. They are made for your specific camera and you can operate all the buttons from the outside of the casing. They are a little pricy, but great.

You could spring for an underwater case for it and take pictures as you snorkel. All the major brands of cameras have cases made for them, but of course they ain%26#39;t cheap. They also serve to protect your camera in the sand and rain. It takes some daring the first time you take your beloved camera underwater, but so far mine hasn%26#39;t leaked.

Don%26#39;t bring the $1000 digital SLR but don%26#39;t spend a lot of time worrying about a less expensive model. We usually put ours in a backpack and if necessary, ask someone to watch our stuff. Just don%26#39;t have someone watch for more than 15 minutes.

Very good point. I don%26#39;t travel with an expensive camera. Not worth losing.

for our beach/pool/snorkeling use we brought a two pack of kodak single use cameras(yea, not glamorous),but the quality was quite surpisingly good and if someone ripped one off while we were snorkeling,10.00 to 12.00 down the tubes no big deal there, for dinner/resort pictures where a camera was not going to be out of our possesion we used our digital camera.

worked great for us.

We take our good camera on the hikes. It%26#39;s worth the small weight to be able to go home with some of those amazing memories on film(disc).

We do, however, opt for the disposable underwater kodak camera for snorkeling days. We stop by K-mart or WalMart to pic one up. As stated above they take surprisingly good pics and are soooo cheap! Technology is amazing that we can now get great underwater turtle pics for so little money. Oh, and it works on dry land too.

Aloha

Mike

This is one instance where digital cameras are of no use! You could leave on the beach or wherever, but then you%26#39;d have to worry about it being stolen. We always buy 1 or 2 disposable cameras just for this purpose.
