Is there bus service near Ko Olina?

Aloha, My wife and I just booked a spur of the moment trip to Marriott%26#39;s Ko Olina resort ( leaving in 2 days ) and haven%26#39;t really had much time to check things out on this resort.

We would prefer not to rent a car because our plans are to do absolutely nothing but sit around the pool/beach and enjoy the sunshine, read books, play cards, walk on the beach and just plain relax.

My main concern is do I need to spend the money for a rental car just to go out to dinner? We prefer modest / cheap priced restaurants, not into paying big bucks to eat. I%26#39;d be happy eating at Zippys the entire week if I could. We%26#39;re booked in an efficiency unit, so not sure how well the BBQ option would be for us.

Is there a bus line that runs to Kapolei so we have a variety of eating options?

We%26#39;re thinking we%26#39;ll just take a taxi to and from the airport, ( or any cheaper recommendations ) and pretty much just stay put at the resort.

Mohalo for any help, Jim

Unfortunately, there is no direct city bus service into the resort....

You will have to hoof it out to Farrington Highway and catch the #40 bus into the Kapolei Transit Center and then transfer to an in-Kapolei route or walk from there.

See: http://thebus.org/ for route maps and timetables.

But, there is a selection of modest/cheap places to eat once you get there.

Oh....

There is an ';in-resort'; shuttle ran by the hotel that may take you out towards the bus stop, or maybe even all the way in to Kapolei. So make sure to ask at check-in.

It is my understanding they also offer inexpensive express shuttles into Waikiki.

Thanks Amberloo,

We will definitely ask about shuttle when we check in, not that we have any desire whatsoever to go to Waikiki ( been there done that ) but if we can catch a ride on the way that%26#39;d be great. As for hoofing out to hwy, how far are we talking? Are there taxi%26#39;s around, or is this too remote from Waikiki for them to bother being around?

Maybe 1/2 to about 3/4 of a mile depending upon where in the resort you are at....

Mostly flat, with a minor uphill between the resort entrance and the highway. Here is a great map of the resort (just click inside the Ko Olina circle a couple times and it zooms into the master plan map).

The stop will be near the highway interchange in the upper left near the ';Ka Lani at Ko Olina'; project.
