Experience good or bad with Thrifty car rental...

I just checked Travelocity and the Alamo car I reserved is now available for $40 less through Thrifty. It%26#39;s only $40 but, hey, that%26#39;ll pay for snorkel rental... Anyway, does anyone have experience with Thrifty?

Thanks!

Mike

We rented from Thrifty via a link off this message board. I think teh company was Hawaii Five 0 or something similar. In any case, Thrifty was **EXCELLENT**. Great rates, great service (the guy at the airport desk had a lively sense of humor) and tehy upgraded us for no cost.

I can%26#39;t speak for how it normally is but we arrived on a sunday and walked right on the bus and were the only people at the office during the check-in. The Alamo crowd was so thick at the airport that they couldn%26#39;t even get anybody on the shuttle bus. I can%26#39;t imagine how long the rental process must have taken due to the crowds.....is $40 worth waiting an hour, or even 30 minutes in line for a car?

On our trip last August we rented thru here, http://www.discounthawaiicarrental.com/. Used them for both Maui and Kauai and both cars were thru Thrifty. No problems at any time. Even got the 2nd driver free.

We used them last year and, like a previous poster said, not too many people there. They did not have the car we wanted, which was a compact, so they gave us a PT Cruiser instead. My husband did not like it but the service from Thrifty was just fine. I would use them again.

We rented a jeep through them and we were satisfied. It was a silver jeep and they didn%26#39;t even bat an eye when it came back mostly red (our large scale version of a red ';dirt shirt';).

;-)

Oops, I was thinking this was a Kauai question. I should clarify and say that Thrifty was fine on Kauai. I%26#39;ve not rented from them on Maui.

Good experiences with Thrifty on Maui. I go through discounthawaii usually and all my rentals end up w/Thrifty ... all positive so far except the location on Oahu stinks. But Maui is good.
