Staying at the Hyatt and would like to do as many meals as possible in room or sack lunch style. What are some good ideas for meals? Is there a decent fridge in the room? The SO and I are semi-healthy eaters, so chips and cookies and other pre-made stuff seldom appeals to us.
Ideas for Meals in Room...Hyatt.
We%26#39;re staying at the Hyatt in August with two kids and have looked into the same question that you raise.
Some of the rooms have refrigerators, depending on the class of room. We%26#39;re staying at the Regency Club level and these rooms have a mini-fridge in addition to the mini bar. For $10/day you can also have a microwave placed in your room (though I%26#39;m not sure this helps with ';healthy'; eating ;) ).
Another advantage of the Regency Club level is that there is a breakfast service on your floor that you could eat in the club or take back to the room. Though upgrading to Regency Club costs a bit (though I forget the cost).
Hope that helps.

stock up on yogurt and fruit. That%26#39;s what I do when we stay in hotels and have a frig because you can really rack up a bill eating all your meals there. Also granola bars, bagels and bottled water.
You might want to check with the Hyatt. I know most of them have changed to the mini fridges that charge on pressure. If you move anything in the safe it charges your room account.
In the rooms without the mini-bar, I always request a fridge when traveling with kids....when I%26#39;ve said I have medicine that needs to be refrigerated, they%26#39;ve never charged me!
On the Regency Club floors, I ask them to clean out the mini-bar, so I can use the entire space!
We stayed about a year ago and were charged extra for the fridge. We bought milk, OJ, lunch meat, fat free mayo, potato salad, fruit, cream cheese. We also bought cereal, bread, can chicken, granola bars, peanut butter, bagels. This helped with breakfast and lunch, especially since we%26#39;re not really big breakfast eaters (although the Swan Terrace is WONDERFUL for breakfast)
There is great take out at Honokowai Okazuya %26amp; Deli %26amp; CJ’s Comfort Zone. Both have large portions at a low prices. Much cheaper than eating out and you could take advantage of your own lania...that is if you have one at the Hyatt.
Don%26#39;t forget about Johnny%26#39;s burgers!
It%26#39;s located right at the entrance to Kaanapali on Keka%26#39;a Drive, in the same bldg as Basil Tomatoes....
I always forget to try this place - many have told me the burgers are cheap %26amp; Ono!!!
Let me know how it is if you go there!!
Go to a farmer%26#39;s market and grab some fruit ... you won%26#39;t have to keep it in the fridge for a few days. Buy a small knife at the market.
Tuna and chicken pouches make great meals ... throw them over some salad greens and that%26#39;s pretty tasty ... grab some Hawaiian salad dressing and chop up some mango or sprinkle some mac nuts over the salad for a tropical flavor.
I think whole wheat tortillas, some deli meat and cheese make pretty good and portable sandwiches if you have a fridge.
Some of the supermarkets have pretty decent sushi at an okay price, if you like that.
Good luck!
