Best Hotel in Maui is.....

Plantation Inn!!!! If interested I will give details....

Best Hotel in Maui is.....

Hands down the Maui Guest House in Lahaina! We%26#39;ve stayed at the fancy resorts...loved the Guest House WAY more!

Best Hotel in Maui is.....

The Sheraton of course!

Some beach tent I just set up, with the fire going full time....

Of course, there%26#39;s the Grand Wailea and Four Seasons...but my nylon protects from all harm.....

I believe The Four Seasons is the only 5-star hotel on Maui. (Maui is an island; you%26#39;re not ';in'; it, but ';on'; it.) Not sure about The Ritz%26#39;s current rating; know they were to refurbish this summer. The Fairmont Kea Lani is also very nice.

Assuming you%26#39;ve been there? Would love to hear about Plantantion Inn. Actually considered staying there several years ago so I%26#39;d love to hear first hand how great it is.

I think the whole ';in'; vs ';on'; was discussed before.

You can be in Chicago but certainly not on Chicago....

You can be in or on Maui as ';If you need me next week I will be in Maui for vacation'; or ';I will be taking my vacation on Maui this year';

At any rate...my pick would be the old Embassy Suites now called the Kaanaplai Beach Club. Not sure if it is better or worse since Sunterra took over but will find out next trip.

ratings mean nothing here... the best hotel in Maui is a personal opinion.

Plantation Inn is charming,small-30 rooms-,beautiful rooms walkout to pool and private courtyard.You have your own patio.Very nice breakfast served poolside.Very nice pool.There is an outstanding French restaurant at the Inn.You can eat on the veranda. Building is built like a Southern Plantation.It is in Lahanai off the main street by a block.I have been in the others mentioned,but this is by far most charming and nicest room decor.

5-stars, or any ratings system does not guarantee the ';best'; accommodations for any particular individual. As addicted said, ';the best hotel in Maui is a personal opinion.';

The Ritz would be rated 4-stars at best these days, but still remains among top Maui resort choices in my book...

Many individuals are quite put off by the opulence and grandeur of a number of the large hotel chain properties on the islands. I am somewhat in the middle, having stayed many times at all of the top rated resorts on several islands, I now prefer the low key luxury Villa scene, as it allows space, and all the comforts of home, while also providing access to most of the large resort amenities...

Postings offering ';best'; opinions on most any subject will always elicit great debate among the masses – like Chi-Sue (“Director of South Maui Tourism..”), my favorite topic happens to be the popular ';South vs. West'; deliberation, which is so popular on TA.

While passionate about our preferences, thankfully we are able to “agree to disagree!”
