Is there such a thing?
Just looking for simple items: snacks, breakfast foods, etc.
Reasonable grocery store near Kona airport or Waikoloa
Aloha,
In Kona there is Sac and Save and KTA on Palani Rd. This is about 7 miles south of the airport.
Costco is just up the road from the airport (south on the hwy) about 1 mile.
In the King%26#39;s Shop in Waikola there is a small grocery store.

The new Miriyama%26#39;s Market about 1 mile south of the airport is reasonable assuming that you only need a few staples. It is the most easily accessible market close to the airport.
Close to Waikoloa would be the Waikoloa Village Market in Waikoloa proper. Large modern supermarket.

Waikoloa Village Market expanded last year--ot is large, has a deli, bakery, wine section, etc. It%26#39;s 6 miles up from the highway, an easy trip up and down. The turn is at the light where the helicopters are.
My suggestion: Kmart. (Go ahead and laugh...)
It%26#39;s about 5 miles south of the airport, so it%26#39;s not too far out of the way. But if you are looking for cereal, bread, juice, milk, and munchies, they are the least out-of-the-way. Walmart is another half-mile further south, but depending on the time, might take a little longer to get to. (Prices probably a little better at Wally World)
Last year, we stopped at KTA and experienced quite the sticker shock at paying $6 (on sale no less) for a box of Frosted Flakes. Juice and milk took the bill over $10. Paid it anyway because (a) I was exhausted from a full day of flying and (b) didn%26#39;t want to waste any more time on it.
A couple of days later, I was at Kmart and noticed they had refrigerators with cheaper prices on milk and juice. Then I saw a bigger box of Frosted Flakes for under $4 as well.
Heh husker we found them cheap on trinkets also. Funny thing on most kmart was cheaper than walmart and the walmart lot was an accident waiting to happen.
