Hi, we are planning our first trip to Hawaii at the end of June.
We will spend 1 week on Maui and another week on the Big Island.
We already have plans for the BI but now I cannot decide on where to stay in Maui. I don%26#39;t want Disney but still would like to be close to the beaches and places to eat. So North or West or South? Any recommendations will be appreciated! Oh yes, and we are on a budget...
Best non-Disney beach location on Maui?
Aloha,
You might want to move this to the Maui board ;o)
I like West Maui best!
Where on the BI are you staying?
Best non-Disney beach location on Maui?
Hi, I love your topic title. This is the Big Island forum. People frequently confuse it with the ';Hawaii'; forum which covers the whole state. You might get some answers here but I%26#39;d advise asking the Maui question in hte Maui forum.
My vote for a Disney beach would go to Wailea and the Grand Wailea ...
on a budget, near beach, Kihei and parts of West Maui seem like good choices. North is better for surfing and windsurfing.
I can%26#39;t think of anywhere on Maui that doesn%26#39;t have places to eat ... Hana has the fewest choices but wasn%26#39;t on your list anyway.
I am not really a fan of Maui too much, but I would recommend the Wailea area – very nice. There are many very nice beaches on Maui, it should not be difficult to find a beautiful one you like best. Non-Disney? Now that is another story. Generally get away from the more populated (read many condos) areas. As others have mentioned, consider posting this in the Maui forum for better results.
Good luck and happy travels!
Thank you for pointing out I was on the wrong island forum!
Don%26#39;t know how that happened. We are planning to stay in Captain Cook on BI. My boyfriend%26#39;s sister has stayed in the same cottage and it is pretty inexpensive so I figure that is a good thing. I am soon going crazy from staring too much at VRBO. In the end everything seems to look the same...especially on Maui. I decided to split our Maui time between West (Honokawai) and South.
We also want to spend to nights near Hilo/Volcano, so if you have any recommendations please bring let me in on the insight! Do you think a Luau is worth the money? Or too touristy? I don%26#39;t even eat meat...
