We%26#39;re thinking of doing a boat tour to snorkel at the Captain Cook Monument. Is morning snorkeling better for seeing more fish? Which tour company is best for this? How much do places tend to charge for snorkel gear rental? We want to snorkel everywhere we go. What does it make sense to bring with us in our luggage, and what to rent? Wouldn%26#39;t we have to rent life jackets anyway, or do people usually snorkel without them along the beaches? Thanks in advance for any advice.
snorkeling questions
We used SeaQuest for our snorkel trip at Kealakekua Bay. Morning is usually better, as the waters get rougher later in the day and visibility is not as good.
You can rent snorkel equipment by the week at Snorkel Bob%26#39;s.
http://www.snorkelbob.com If you have your own equipment, you might want to just bring your own masks and snorkels and rent fins on island. Boat tours will provide your snorkel equipment, or just the pieces you don%26#39;t have, such as fins and/or flotation vests.
When snorkeling from shore, I always wear my flotation vest, but I am not a swimmer. My husband is a strong swimmer, so does not wear a vest. It%26#39;s all about your comfort level in the water. However, neither of us ever snorkel in Hawaiian waters without fins. The currents in Hawaii are much stronger and faster than in the Caribbean.
