My wife and I will be going on a Circle Island tour all day, but will be back at 4 (this will be on a Thursday). Is there anything fun but touristy (i.e. unique to Hawaii, not a club or bar or restaurant) to do in Honolulu at night?
Touristy Night Activities?
There are a variety of sunset, dinner and/or ';booze'; cruises every night of the week which leave from Kewalo Basin and cruise just offshore the Waikiki shoreline.
They are fun, great scenery (day or night), some with live entertainment, and the dinner cruises generally have pretty good food. All of the major ones have free shuttles that pick you up at your Waikiki hotel and then ';pour'; you back after the cruise.
You can Google ';waikiki cruises'; or ';honolulu cruises'; and get an idea of what%26#39;s available. But I would wait to book anything until arriving, as when you get to Oahu there will be tourist magazines all over the place with specials, discounts and descriptions.
If you are prone to seasickness, check out the Navitek cruises they use a special type of craft which is much more stable.
Touristy Night Activities?
Some nights there is a lovely hula dancer with a guitar player in the courtyard behind the Sheraton Moana. For the price of a drink, it is a very magical ';touristy'; moment.
You have got the free Hula show at 6pm that used to be at dukes statue but moved to the park temporarly, The Princess Sheraton has the show Hawaiian show Creations, also at the Princess they do a free show at the pool with more modern songs like the elvis hits, the Halekulani has a terrific sunset group that is the very traditional music, the Royal Hawaiian Mai Tai Bar has a guitar combo, Dukes has the popular patio party on sunday and guitar music at nights. Pretty easy to keep busy in waikiki.
