Having been to Maui numerous times, we always stay around Napili or Kapalua. So thinking about flying into Kapalua via Honolulu for this next trip.
I know it%26#39;ll be very convienent to that area, and saves the long drive from Kahului airport.
Are there are rental agencies at Kapalua? How about taxi availalbility? I know I%26#39;ve seen cabs around Whalers Village, so perhaps we can order one ahead of time.
Any recommendations are welcome.
Kapalua Airport
There are car rental agencies near the Kapalua airport,,, check with the individual rental companies.
Kapalua Airport
Most of the major car rental places are together in one spot about a half mile south of the airport turnoff. Others have offices in local hotels, but most are in that one spot along the highway. Usually you call for a pickup while waiting for your luggage. I%26#39;ve seen cabs parked at the airport, but generally they are meeting someone. So I guess you can call a cab while waiting for your bags. If you try to order ahead, they%26#39;ll probably tell you to wait til you get in. I%26#39;ve rarely had to wait for the pickup from a rental car shuttle more than 3 mnutes. And when you get to the office, there;s no line.
I%26#39;ve seen times when the car rental prices at Kapalua were cheaper than at OGG, but usually they%26#39;re more. We can fly west coast-HNL and then hop over to Kapalua a lot cheaper than nonstop to OGG, because prices to HNL and then on Island Air to JHM (Kapalua) are so low.
We go to Maui every year for whale season, and the best part of flying into Kapalua is that at such a low flght altitude you have a great view of the whales as you fly south of Molokai.
