If you have, please advise...we%26#39;re staying there for 8 days in August.
1. We were wondering if this Hyatt in Maui has laundry facilities. (The Grand Hyatt Kauai had free washers/dryers; it would be nice if the Hyatt Maui was comparable.)
2. How much would an upgrade to the Regency Club be if we decide to upgrade when we check in?
3. Has anyone tried their Sunday buffet breakfast/lunch in the Swans restaurant? How much for adults and for kids under 12? Is it worth it?
4. Is the pool really amazing? (Again, the Grand Hyatt Kauai was so spectacular that we%26#39;re worried that this Hyatt might not compare...please reassure me!!!).
Thank you so much in advance! This forum is always so helpful and full of good information!!!
Anyone stayed at the Hyatt Regency Maui?
I just spent my honeymoon there. I can try to answer as best I can:
1. We were wondering if this Hyatt in Maui has laundry facilities. (The Grand Hyatt Kauai had free washers/dryers; it would be nice if the Hyatt Maui was comparable.) - I actually don%26#39;t know if they have washer/dryers for the guests to use, I%26#39;m pretty sure they do have laundry service, but as for guest use, I don%26#39;t know.
2. How much would an upgrade to the Regency Club be if we decide to upgrade when we check in? - I believe the upgrade was $75 per day. In my opinion, it was totally worth it for us on our honeymoon, we%26#39;re glad we upgraded.
3. Has anyone tried their Sunday buffet breakfast/lunch in the Swans restaurant? How much for adults and for kids under 12? Is it worth it? - We had the breakfast buffet for any morning of our choice, not just Sunday, it was quite large - a lot to choose from. Since we had a ticket/coupon ';thing'; we didn%26#39;t see the bill, but I believe it was $25/pp, but again, it was included in our package.
4. Is the pool really amazing? (Again, the Grand Hyatt Kauai was so spectacular that we%26#39;re worried that this Hyatt might not compare...please reassure me!!!). - ';Amazing'; I wouldn%26#39;t necessarily say amazing, but it was very nice. The swimable cave from one side to the other was cool, the bar underneath was a nice touch %26amp; though I didn%26#39;t go down the slide (ear issue), I heard from others that it was fun.
Have a great time!
Anyone stayed at the Hyatt Regency Maui?
Yes, the Hyatt has laundry facilities. they are located in the Lahaina Tower. We always stay in the Regency Club rooms, so I%26#39;m not sure about the cost of the upgrade...if you call them they can probably tell what the upgrade cost would be. I%26#39;m not sure about the cost of the Sunday buffet breakfast/lunch, but it%26#39;s worth it---plenty of food and what a beautiful view. The pool is not as adventurous as the Hyatt Kauai pool, but it is still plenty big with the grotto bar and the waterslide is great!
previous replies pretty well summed things up just wanted to add that the sunday brunch/buffet(it was included in our room cost deal) is the same as the monday thru saturday brunch/buffet, its quite nice but no difference on a sunday unless maybe for mothers day.
we spent 3 wonderful nights at the hyatt last week, hated to leave.
I have about 10 stays at the Hyatt under my belt....this place is actually my favorite resort on Maui...not just West Maui either!
The pool is wonderful, although I%26#39;m not sure I like what they%26#39;ve done to the Napili pool - the ';sandy play area'; and all, but I guess it%26#39;s great for kids. While it does not have the swimmable saltwater lagoon like GHKauai, it DOES have a swimmable beach adjacent to the resort!! Great trade off IMO!
Even though it%26#39;s showing some of it%26#39;s age (27 years %26amp; going..) the resort is still breathtaking!! The location can%26#39;t be be beat.
Regency club is worth a 75/n upgrade cost IMO... If you haven%26#39;t yet, join the Hyatt%26#39;s Gold Passport program - free upgrades %26amp; xtra%26#39;s; %26amp; point%26#39;s add up quickly with this type of stay!
Swan Court breakfast is great, if for the setting alone! Adults $25, kids $13. Also, Hyatt Kids menu is avail @ all the restaurants (AND for ROOM SERVICE TOO!) in the resort - highest $ item is 5.95 I believe. When my kids were small, we used this all the time (..think it was 2 bucks back then...HA!)
While the Kauai property is about as beautiful a resort as I%26#39;ve seen... overall, the Hyatt Maui wins the prize in my book over the GHK because of the location (SO much within walking distance), and the overall resort vibe. GHK became a bit boring after awhile... Hyatt Maui is NEVER boring!!
Next week, I%26#39;ll be in Kapalua, staying in a gorgeous, private 1500s/f villa....but you can be sure I%26#39;ll be thinking about my many stay%26#39;s at the Hyatt...
Thanks everyone for the information! It is nice to hear your positive views on the property. I have some more questions...hope you don%26#39;t mind!
1. Is the upgrade to the Regency Club $75 per night PER ROOM or PER PERSON?
2. Did any of you go to the Hyatt%26#39;s luau (Drums of the Pacific?)? Which luau is the better food and experience?
Not sure about the upgrade cost. I was upgraded at no cost via Regency Club. If you are booking direct, I%26#39;d look at the web specials - some include breakfast daily, one has free night after 4 or 5...etc.. Make sure to join Gold Passport %26amp; give reservations your #!
I had a blast at Drums.... Chief Fa%26#39;a is the best fire-knife dancer in the islands! Food/drinks are pretty good....not too many cheesy tourist jokes from the m/c....setting is nice - would be better if stage/fence didn%26#39;t block ocean views...it%26#39;s pretty fair price-wise compared to other luau%26#39;s. Discounted by some of the activity brokers on the island, so I%26#39;d book w/ one of them.
I can comment as we just got back from our vacation. Boo hoo. It%26#39;s so hard to get back to the normal grind. Anyway, we stayed one night at the Grand Wailea and the remaining 6 nights at the Hyatt. The night at the GW was a birthday present from my husband for me. We stayed at the Hyatt 8 years ago for our honeymoon and we wanted to go back, but also dabble in another hotel that we heard highly about.
My husband and I are in agreement about our opinions after our recent stay. The Hyatt is showing its age. We were shocked at how run down certain areas looked compared to 8 years ago. Maybe our perspective has changed as our tastes have grown.. not sure.
Swan Court was horrible! Let me clarify.... our first breakfast/brunch was Mother%26#39;s Day @ $50/pp. So that day was good, service was good, food spread was quite impressive. The next day we came price dropped back down to $25 per adult, 5-12 age is $12.95 and food spread was still good, though about 1/2 the selection as Mother%26#39;s Day. Service was awful! So bad we didn%26#39;t tip, which is very hard for us to do. We choose other places to eat for breakfast throughout the remainder of the trip and foolishly went back to Swan Court on our last morning. Service.... horrible again. My husband sat waiting to order (he didn%26#39;t want the buffet) for 20 minutes. Other things happened as well.
The pool at the Hyatt... okay. We have young kids so we were at the kiddie pool most of the time. WHY the Hyatt put in gravel for the ';sand'; pool is beyond me... it hurts! When you%26#39;ve been to the GW%26#39;s pools, nothing compares.
GW was spectacular. The only ';complaint';..... it%26#39;s too big!! To get anywhere is about a half hour walk!
As far as the Hyatt Regency Drums of the Pacific Luau - there are others much better for the $$. We were sadly disappointed w/wait in long line even after arriving early, watery drinks, poor seating arrangements, buffet style food,,,,and mediocre talent......Old Lahaina Luau is your best bet - but make reservations at least a month in advance if not more,,,,our mistake thinking 2 weeks was enough lead time! Feast of Lele is better but pricier $$$ than HR.
Kstelzner,one reason the hyatt may have gravel instead of sand for the kids play area is they dont want sand being tracking into the kids pool by kids and having adults tracking sand into the main pool after playing with their kids.my only conclusion.and yes i also thought it was a little strange with the gravel ';beach area';
Hello! I%26#39;m back with another question. I understand that the Hyatt Maui has 3 towers. For those who have stayed there, which tower did you enjoy or not enjoy, and why? Are there differences in room quality? I appreciate any feedback you have...thanks!
