traditional hawaiian gifts

Does anyone know of any particular stores/galleries which carry some more traditional or handcrafted hawaiian type gifts? Is there a local art center or any such place? Going to Oahu in June and would like to find some gifts other than the typical shirts, etc.

The swap meet at the aloha stadium has a lot of different vendors and I%26#39;ve seen art there also. It%26#39;s worth a trip out there to see. Also there%26#39;s a shopping center down the street from the Ala Moana shopping center that has some different boutiques other than the ones you find a typical malls. The name of it slips me at the moment but it was mentioned in another post recently.

Hope I helped a little.

moonscape ... the newly open Waikiki Beachwalk.

Besides the normal eating places, the newly open Waikiki Beachwalk is full with sponsored Hawaiian shops. It has a gallery art shop, a Hawaiian Jewelry shop and a place called Mana%26#39;s Hawaii (five businesses make up Mana%26#39;s Hawaii) which has a hawaiian music collection by Mountain Apple Company (Bro. Iz, Cazimero%26#39;s, Makaha Sons and many others), Native Books, Hula Supplies, Lomi messages and Hawaiian Quilts for sale. There is a Hawaiian Moon next door for Aloha Shirts, Muumuu%26#39;s and sun dress and many other shops to browse and buy.

Everything is in Waikiki for the visitors to enjoy. I believe the Office of Hawaiian Affairs helped with financing to open the Hawaiian Cultural shops so the visiting tourist may enjoy what cultural and traditional things we got to offer everyone. Go check them out.

Everybody gotta have Iz, he is still da man!

iluuvhawaii .... I was talking with a Mountain Apple Records distributor a few days ago and he mentioned a new release coming out June 15th on Bro. Iz. Stay tune ......

The Honolulu Advertiser is celebrating 150 years and Bro Iz is helping the celebrations. ';The colors of rainbow, so pretty in the sky';, will be published in the Honolulu Advertiser Sunday issue, June 24th. Soon your heart will be filled with song. Look for your world-premiere gift inside the IZ keepsake edition. It is the Honolulu Advertiser%26#39;s way of saying ';Mahalo'; for helping us celebrate 150 years in the islands.

Are you a local resident? I can check.

';Live Aloha';

According to the Mountain Apple web site it will be released on June 26. That the the day before we leave for 11 nights. How cool it that?

;o( I am not a local resident....yet, but I keep tabs on my Iz for sure. Thanks for the info.

Thank you for your information - I%26#39;m looking forward to visiting the new shopping area. Also, since Iz was the first Hawaiian musician I ever heard - he has remained my sentimental favorite! Can%26#39;t wait and can%26#39;t believe I will be back to Hawaii in less than 2 weeks!

It is fun to read the forum while listening to musics from Mountain Apple company on line! WOW

If you do a google search for Iz videos they have a tribute with him and Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

Sorry I should have done this first I was able to shorten the web address.
