Traffic from airport

Will I be running into construction traffic when I am driving from the airport to the Grand Hyatt?

Traffic from airport

I woudn%26#39;t worry about it. You might see some traffic down near Poipu, depending on what time of day you are coming in. But not a bigh deal.

people flap too much about traffic on Kauai. It%26#39;s noting like LA. If you happen to hit the peak of the mess in Kapaa heading south in the evening you might get hung up for an extra 20 min. Same time of day heading to Poipu you might spend 20 min getting through the lights in Lihue. If you drop down around the harbor and come back up you might be able to shave a few min. or go the real back way around Kipu.

It%26#39;s really not that big a deal. Just avoid traveling 4-5 PM and you won%26#39;t spend much time in traffic.

Heavens Dave - don%26#39;t tell everyone the secret! This is the only way we go. I whole heartly agree - too much hoopla regarding the traffic and construction. I understand the people of Kauai look at it differently but here on the mainland those conditions are not new. Go have a blast and hang loose!

You can totally avoid the main construction areas in Poipu if you take the bypass road which is a left hand turn , off of the Tree Tunnel road, right before you hit the town of Koloa. Just turn left on Ala Kinoiki (sp?) right before Koloa. But yep, like Dave said well, too much flap about all this. Most of all are probably used to worse driving conditions on the mainland. Depending on what time of day you arrive you could run into a little flare up of traffic from Lihue through Puhi area. Again, not a big deal. Cars will be moving slower but still, no big deal, comparatively speaking. And it doesn%26#39;t land for very long. Kick back and look at the scenery if this is the case (oops-don%26#39;t take eyes off of road though).

Aloha from Kaua%26#39;i!

To avoid the construction traffic in the Koloa - Po%26#39;ipu Beach area.

Coming from Lihue, turn onto Maluhia Rd. (Tree Tunnel Rd.) -- after you get to the ';flats'; at the bottom, look for the intersection with a sign to ';Po%26#39;ipu'; on your left -- this is Ala Kino%26#39;iki Rd. -- turn left here, stay on the by-pass which will take you to the intersection of Po%26#39;ipu Rd. right by the Hyatt -- turn left and the Hyatt is about one block on your right side.

Malama Pono,

Janet
