Are you specifically wanting to stay in Honolulu? It%26#39;s a bit like a very upscale Surfer%26#39;s Paradise. If you want something lower key, think Maui. Still lower key? Kaua`i or the Big Island.

Should be nice here in January. It will almost certainly be cooler than out your way.

Waikiki is a strip about 2 miles long %26amp; 3-4 blocks wide. So any place is fairly close to the beach.

Resortquest Waikiki Sunset is a condo with 1 %26amp; 2 bedrooms.

Resortquest Waikiki Banyon is a 1 bedroom condo.

They are across the street from each other %26amp; about 1 1/2 blocks from the beach.

thanks for your reply, we do want Honolulu - i would love to see other islands but this trip is so American partner can get his fix for american food! He misses all the junk food he used to have! :)

Shocking i know. We are looking at xmas time but i have been told this is very expensive time to go? or is Jan just as bad?

:)

Castle Waikiki Shore is the only condos ON Waikiki Beach. There are others but not right on the beach. Check out this one...its beautiful and the view is AWESOME!

Christmas thru New Year and some of the surrounding days of that time period are the most expensive time of the year to travel to Hawaii. January thru March is considered a peak season there, so rates are higher than say, April-May, and October-November. It is also considered their rainy season. But the surf is awesome at that time...hit the North Shore to see huge waves and catch a professional surf contest!

Have fun!

thanks for that - will check it out...but as its right on the beach can you recomend a condo thats a block or two away and will therefore be better value??? im from australia so dont need to be on the beach..somewhere clean safe and comfortable is fine!

thanks again

then i would look into the reosrt quest wiakiki sunset. I have never stayed there myself, but i did look into them when we were planning a family vacation with about 6 adults. They looked real nice and were reasonable.

Also there is the Waikiki Banyon, another Resort Quest hotel/condominium. The Ilikai is a condo option just east of the Hilton hawaiian Village. The outrigger Luana has kitchenettes.

There are also cheap (but nice) hotels with kitchens...the Hawaiiana is one.

hope some of this helps...good luck!

Lara .... try ResortQuest Waikiki Beach Tower.com. Two bedroom large condo across Kuhio Beach. Large kitchen, living room and I believe all units oceanview. Stayed many years ago and can%26#39;t quite remember all amenities. Located between the Hyatt Regency Resort and Pacific Beach Hotel on Kalakaua Avenue.

Another, I experienced is the Diamond Head Beach Hotel. Large

unites with living room, kitchen and bedrooms. Large balcony facing the ocean. Located in the vicinity of Michel%26#39;s Restaurant, Outrigger Canoe Club and W Hotel, down Kalakaua at the foot of Diamond Head (known as the ';Gold Coast';).

Good luck,

';Live Aloha';

What Island are you planing on staying. I have a great place to tell you about if you go to Maui. It the Mahana . All are ocean front and you rent directly from the owner. If you are interested in I%26#39;ll post her name. I loved it. It was just beautiful.

Hi lara19Melbourne,

Friends of ours just stayed at Waikiki Park Heights Condo%26#39;s on Kuhio Ave. They rented through the owner on VRBO, had no problems with renting through the owners. There was 8 of them, they had 3 bedroom 22nd floor condo with fantastic views for excellent price. The building is located 1 block behind Hyatt Regency Hotel.

Sorry have never been to Hawaii in January, we usually go May or August but we are going again in December so will be interesting to see if it is any more expensive (apart from being Christmas time).

Good luck with your accommodation search %26amp; have a great trip :-)
