Hello,
We are staying at the Anini Beach House www.oceanviewkauai.com/aninibeach1.html
and wanted to know if anyone has knowledge of this place and what the beach is like out in front of it. My boys were hoping to do some boogie boarding or skim boarding, but I am thinking that in summer time there may not be many waves at this beach. We picked it because of the safe swimming we had heard about here.
What close by beaches would be recommended for boogie boarding?
This will be our first trip to Kauai and are fortunate to be spending two weeks there with our 4 boys and 1 niece.
Thanks.
Staying at the Anini Beach House, knowledge of this place?
Anini is my absolute favorite stretch of beach in all all of Hawaii (having been to Kauai, Maui and Oahu) and most reminds me of the calm, clear, lanquid lagoons of the South Pacific (EXTREMELY idyllic). Very safe and calm (maybe not the best for boogie boarding but there are plenty of other beaches nearby that are). We%26#39;re staying on Anini this December (though in this place (http://www.vrbo.com/117313) - which I think is fairly close to the one you are looking at).

Staying at the Anini Beach House, knowledge of this place?
Hi there,
I remember looking at your place after I read your earlier post. Looks nice. I think I looked at it before when we were trying to choose a place. I am so happy to hear that you feel Anini Beach is one of the best places to be! I researched a long time before deciding on this particular place and am so glad we picked it. We can%26#39;t wait to go. I really wanted a safe place for the boys to swim and play around without worrying about them getting stuck in big waves. We are from Southern California and we do get some nasty undertows and big waves, but we know the beach well that we go to and being in Kauai for the first time, everything is so new. Thanks for your info!!

Ken,
Just wanted to mention that we were in the South Pacific two years ago and loved it! We were in Tahiti on the islands of Huahine and Tikehau. I see you are a South Pacific Expert! Again, so nice to hear that Anini is much like the South Pacific Lagoons, which we fell in love with!!

Bev,
Not been to either of those two French Polynesian islands, but have been to Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora (our stay there change our lives forever) - as well as Rarotonga and Aitutaki in the Cooks. Anyway, having been to French Polynesia you already understand the lure and beauty of the South Pacific. The north shore of Kauai is lovely as well (not quite as idyllic as the South Pacific, but as close as you can find in Hawaii - which is pretty darned nice). I suspect you will like it quite a bit. Sounds indeed like you have done your homework.
Hopefully someone here has specific knowledge of the house and will reply.

We haven%26#39;t stayed in the house you are renting, but have stayed nearby several times. You are across the street from the beach there, not right on the shoeeline. There are other houses and properties on the beach side. However, the beach itself is very good there -- soft sand, gentle surf, etc. Not too good for boogie boarding. But generally safe. Although do stay away from breaks in the outer reef, where currents can pull you out to sea.
When we were looking at the Anini Beach House and comparing it to another rental on the north shore (http://www.aloharental.kauaistyle.com/) - someone actually posted a comparison of the two - giving a slight edge to the second one and that is the one we chose. Think the post was in the last year. Trip is coming up soon so I will post a report.
