kimo's

We will be staying at the Sheraton for only one night (our last on Maui). I read somewhere that Kimo%26#39;s opens at 5:00 and reservations start at 6:00, so basically first come first serve at 5:00 is this correct and would you suggest this place for last evening in Maui?

I find it a great place to watch the sunset and have a drink and dinner. See the pictures by MauiNoKaOi for the view and a great piece of prime rib.

You might also want to consider Leilani%26#39;s upstairs and request an oceanside table. It is just an easy stroll from the Sheraton. I believe that they took reservations beginning at 5:30. We arrived about 15 minutes or so ahead of time to be sure we were one of the first there in case it was ';first come, first served'; even with reservations. It worked!

You%26#39;re correct...6 - 6:15 is 1st reservation...

If you%26#39;re looking for a 5-star-type send off, I%26#39;d say David Paul%26#39;s...Pacific O!....Mama%26#39;s... For a casual excellent meal at a fair price, with (for me..) true old-school Maui atmosphere, Kimo%26#39;s is the place!! Definately wait for a seat on the rail !

Although Mama’s Fish House is usually first on my list we had a wonderful dinner at The Plantation House in Kapalua. Our meal was about $150. We each had an entrĂ©e and we shared a bottle of wine, appetizer and salad. Along with other menu offerings they had about three different fish you could choose from and about 5 different preparations. I was able to make reservations a few days in advance for their earliest seating and we were very lucky to get a table at the opening of the French doors over looking the golf course and ocean. The view was beautiful!!! I would suggest making your reservations as soon as you have a date and for the earliest seating to help ensure a prime table. IMO this would be a wonderful way to enjoy your last evening in paradise!

If you go to Kimo%26#39;s, don%26#39;t miss the Hula Pie.

We were just at Kimos. Made reservations at 7, got right in and watched the sun go down. We all agreed after eating at some other restuarants in the area that it was the best view, food and the best deal.

Thanks everyone. I think I will stick with Kimo%26#39;s or Leilanai%26#39;s something close to the Sheraton. Leaving in 4 days and cannot wait.

How far in advance do you need to make reservations? (Kimo%26#39;s or comparable nice restaurant) Or can we just arrive on a whim and wait for a table?

we did not make reservations.. just put our names on the list and spent the wait time shopping near by and having a drink in the lounge which is the best spot...in the whole restaurant.. It was easy and simple :) It took 40 min.. no biggie :)

If you want rail seats at sunset, I would phone early. Maybe the day before... if you are not interested in a rail seat/table, you can walk up in the late afternoon to reserve a table.
