Ever used Costco Travel for Hawaii?`

We just became Costco members after a new store was built in our area. I%26#39;m wondering if anyone has ever used their travel services? We are planning a fall trip to Hawaii for our family of 4 and I really need some help. The only agent that%26#39;s been recommended to me so far is Pleasant Holidays which I may use but I also wanted something to compare. If anyone has had any experience with Costco or another agency I%26#39;d love to hear about it. Thanks!

I haven%26#39;t used it myself, but I wanted to ask the same question. We%26#39;re thinking of using Costco because some of our friends booked their Hawaii trip through Costco and they highly recommended it to us. I don%26#39;t know too many specifics other than they were easy to work with and they saved a lot of money off of the hotel breakfasts.

Thanks, I hope we get a response from someone who has used them. Since we just got a Costco in our area i know nothing! My only point of reference is a friend%26#39;s brother who uses them but he lives in Texas so its very third hand. Anyone out there used Costco? For any kind of trip?

We book our rental cars through Costco Travel. We%26#39;re in South Maui every February. You really don%26#39;t need any travel agents to travel to Maui. Unless you are set on a hotel, many people book resort condos direct from a condo%26#39;s owner by using vrbo.com That way there%26#39;s no guess-work about exactly what you are getting; you see photos of every aspect of the condo your family will be using -- no room-roulette when you arrive. Meals out really add up and having a kitchen is nice, even if you never actually ';cook';. Most 1 BR condos have two baths and private lanais -- lots more space than a hotel room.

(My first, best friend lived in your town quite some time ago. Her dad had a tannery there.)

Whoops! I confused KY with TN. Sorry.

Here%26#39;s the Costco travel info # 1-877-849-2730. You can talk to someone here even if you are not a member....simply tell them you are considering becoming a member.

I haven%26#39;t used them, but have called them.(I am a member). The last time I thought about using them for a trip to Hawaii, I found that for a little price difference at the Waikiki Outrigger, I could book through the Outrigger directly and no charge to my credit card till we got to the hotel. There was a 3 day before arrival date cancel policy. But with Costco, you have I think 7 days from the time you book to make any changes, then I think the total amount was due very soon. I can%26#39;t remember their cancel policy.

I chose to book directly with Outrigger, because of the ease of booking and no money due till you get there. The price difference was so little it didn%26#39;t matter.

You need to really compare apples to apples and see if its worth it.

Costco is very nice to deal with on the phone.

Thanks for the info. I%26#39;m just so overwhelmed with all the choices, places to visit, etc, in planning this trip. I really feel the need for advice tho I usually do book things myself over the internet. I jut want to be able to talk to a human that I can explain my family%26#39;s wants, interests and price ranges to and have them make recommendations. Having never been to Hawaii its a little intimidating and I%26#39;m afraid of making an expensive mistake. Hence the search for a travel agent!

Hi Again.

We just booked our trip to Hawaii through Costco after talking to a few other travel agents. Costco gave us a similar package to the others (a local, independent travel agency and Liberty Travel) and the Costco travel agency offered more %26#39;extras%26#39; and was about $2,000 less than the others.

We booked our trip after our 3rd call to Costco. The agents were very helpful and patient with us,though some were better than others. I recommend that you call a few times, as we played around with a few different options. The wait time was more than 10 minutes each time, but that was faster than it took for us to drive out to an office and wait.

I know a few people who did very well booking directly with hotels/condos, etc. but we feel more at ease knowing that all we have left to plan is the excursions (fingers crossed)!

Thanks for taking the time to answer. I appreciate hearing your experiences. I%26#39;m going to give them a call, probably tomorrow when its calmer around the house. I was wondering if they are pretty flexible? I notice they have these ';deals'; on the website, but most of those don%26#39;t fit into our ideas and I need something a little more custom made. Good luck on your trip! Heidi
