I was just wondering if anyone knows of a discount for the Fair Wind II Snorkeling Tour. We%26#39;re a family of 4 adults, 1 child, 1 toddler and any discount would be fabulous. I%26#39;ve heard that there is a discount from Hilo Hattie%26#39;s, but was hoping that someone might be able to offer any other discount possibilities, or elablorate on the Hilo Hattie%26#39;s discount. Thanks in advance!
Fair Wind II Snorkeling Discount?
nope.......none... you will be 4 of 110 on a 60 ft boat..... get comffy
I think Kids including your toddler will be$65 @..... they wont want to get off the boat in 30 ft of water.... it wont be in the shallow section
the bottom will be 30 to 150 ft below you much of the time.... most kids elect to never leave the boat...........
Far beter is Sea paradise... same size boat but with 30 to 40 and less money............. and sailing not a cattle boat...........
Fair Wind II Snorkeling Discount?
Thanks for your response, although I did fail to mention that I%26#39;ve been on this cruise twice before so I%26#39;m familiar with it and we%26#39;ve always had a good time. The lunch barbecue has always been really good and my husband and I are looking at the Fairwinds cruise as another highlight to our upcoming trip.
I hear what you%26#39;re saying about the toddler and it%26#39;s possibly true although I have a water-lover of a nearly 2-year old. That and my mother loves the cruise, but hates to snorkel. I know, why would she even go? But she doesn%26#39;t want to miss seeing everyone else having the fun, so I%26#39;ve got a grandmother to ';handle'; my toddler if need be. It%26#39;s possible that my mother and toddler stay back at the resort while the rest of us go, but my mother sounded disappointed when I mentioned it.
I know the last time we went we got a Buy 1 Get 1 Free coupon for going to a time share. Not interested in doing that this round. I%26#39;m reconciled to the fact that I%26#39;ll have to pay full price, and we will if there%26#39;s no discount available, but figured it wouldn%26#39;t hurt to ask.
Anyone familiar with the Hilo Hattie discount? I%26#39;ve seen it on the Hilo Hattie website, but you have to have the coupon in-hand and I%26#39;d rather book prior to our getting to Hawaii and being able to retrieve the aforementioned coupon, if it%26#39;s truly available.
Call the Fair Winds reservation number and ask if they offer a repeat guest discount. When we booked Hula Kai (owned by same company) this January, we got a choice of 10% off or a t-shirt. Took the shirt...
glad you stood up for the Fairwinds cruise! hawaiidan seems to criticize them every chance he gets!!! we went on it this past winter, with a then 18-month-old. it was fantastic, and we would do it again in a heartbeat!!! i believe there was a much lower rate for a toddler. as for the water being deep - no one is supposed to stand on the bottom anyway, and with life jackets or vests, even the little ones can have a blast. there are boogie boards to hold on to also, and they have the ';viewing boxes'; if the kids don%26#39;t want to put their heads under water. we loved it. grandma will have an enjoyable time, even if she doesn%26#39;t go in the water. she can be upstairs in the sun, or downstairs in the shade. i believe they told us they have a playpen available to set up if needed. either that, or you can trade off turns staying with the littlest one, if he doesn%26#39;t want to go in the water, and give grandma a chance to try snorkeling too............i%26#39;m a grandma - not athletic in any way - and kind of a scaredy-cat, and i had a great time snorkeling. its something that you just have to experience, and it was the highlight of our trip!!! there are stairs going down into the water too, so the littlest one might ease in slowly, and end up not wanting to get out of the water!!!!! great idea above, about asking Fairwinds directly if they have a ';repeat customer'; discount, or family discount available! have a blast..........wish i was there!
Honu_Ohana and BebeCGC,
Thanks so much for your encouragement on the repeat discount. The 10% off, if I could get it, would be fantastic, as we%26#39;re talking about $55. Well, having said that maybe I really would rather have the T-shirts (LOL).
We leave in just under 2 months, so I%26#39;ll check back to see if anyone else has suggestions. Thanks again!
The toll free Fair Winds number is 800-677-9461 .
The booking page is www.fair-wind.com/fair_wind_booking_menu.htm
and it looks like under 3 and 4-12 have lower fares. You get a free t-shirt if you book online.
We took the t-shirts because we always buy some ';memory'; t shirts on our visits and these were very nice, good quality not the 3 for $10 kind.
If you call them and tell them you are a repeat customer you get 10% but you do not get the free tshirt. We had a group of 9 and elected for the discount. (just went on the morning snorkel May 7th) Also, my 4 year old granddaughter was 3 for the day, with something like a $30 savings! lol
The back of the bay is still blocked off for 100 feet all the way across, and I was thinking that would make it not as fun, but it really didn%26#39;t bother me at all.
There were MANY kayaks there, all pulled up on the rocks and the people walking around. I wish they would do something about these idiots!
Oh, and the boat wasn%26#39;t near full when we went, probably about only 1/2 full. Made it really nice!
We just came back from Kona last week. During our stay, we attended a timeshare presentation (Shell Vacation Club), which paid for our snorkeling trip.
However, we also received a Shell Vacation Club Diamond Card, which provide discounts on many activities (over 100 activities by various vendors). For example, in looking at the Diamond Club brochure, the Fairwinds snorkel tours prices are;
AM Deluxe Snorkel ($94 vs $120) Adults, ($60 vs $72) Child
PM Deluxe Snorkel ($86 vs $109) Adults, ($56 vs $68) Child
PM Snack Snorke ($48 vs $78) Adults, ($39 vs $47) Child
We booked a Body Glove Cocktail PuPu cruise through Shell Vacation Club ($30 vs $73).
If you know someone who is staying at the Shell Resort, Kona Coast, they should be able to book via their on site conceigre. Othewise, you may have to endure a timeshare presentation.
If you do not nor have the time to attend the timeshare, you can always try to call Shell (808) 324-6509, and see if they could extend the Diamond Card privileages to you (doen%26#39;t hurt to ask). We actually booked our timeshare presentation at their site in town, Joy Dahlem (808) 896-6147. Good Luck
You can get a 10% discount with the Hawaii Gold Card at http://www.hawaiifun.org/
You can also go to hawaiidiscountactivities.com. They have it for $99.
