Where to stay?

We are planning our first trip to Maui and have no idea where to stay. I have started reading some of the reviews but thought I would ask here as well.

Our criteria is that we would love to be on a beach with great swimming, an awesome pool is a must and while we are not looking at the most expensive place there we still want as nice as we can get for $250 per night or less.

We will be renting a car but prefer to be within walking distance of restaurants and bars so we don%26#39;t have to worry about drinking and driving.

We are in our mid 40%26#39;s if that helps!

Thank you!

sounds like a tight fit for the sheraton,if you go in sept. or oct. you should be able to bag a partial o.v. special for 250.00 granted.

i believe the sheraton is offering a 35% off ';rack'; rates and 1 free night promo right now which would work out to about 285.00 a night for a partial o.v.

The Sheraton is fabulous, but I don%26#39;t know if it will fit your budget. If you do their least expensive room and join Starwood for free, you might get an upgrade. If possible, I would go for a partial oceanview (and hope for an upgrade). For your first visit, it is wonderful. They are on the best part of Kaanapali beach with nice pools and an oceanfront pool bar. It is within easy walking distance on an oceanfront walkway to Whaler%26#39;s Village with several restaurants and bars, You can catch a shuttle into Lahaina for additional entertainment and dining choices. You may need to cab back if you stay late in Lahaina.

After reading alot of the reviews, we are leaning toward the Sheraton. We are going in April though which puts the price at well above $250 which is ok as long as the place is really great. we could also try for an exchange through RCI if anyone knows of a great timeshare place.

Thanks!

dont hold your breathe on this or next year but this past April-early May the sheraton was having 199.00 gv specials.

will that happen in 08? who knows

will you have made reservations long before a special like that does become avail.? probobly.

reserve now then cancel and re-book if a special for your dates does become available? maybe..
