We%26#39;re planning a trip to Hawaii (for approximately 10 days, maybe more) and we%26#39;re thinking of going sometime in the August/September time frame. Is this a decent time to go, and if so, is it already too late to plan a decent, ';affordable'; vacation? We%26#39;re concerned that the hotels may already be fully booked.
Some of our friends just loaned us their Hawaii blue books...we haven%26#39;t read them yet. We%26#39;re thinking of splitting our time between Oahu and Maui.

Aloha! I think if you get cracking, you%26#39;ll do fine. I think the most difficult part for most people is selecting the island. Once you have that done, then I think it%26#39;s easier. Just remember, you%26#39;ll get better rates based on a weekly rental . . . maybe do 3 days on Oahu, then a full week on Maui. Though if I were going in the summer, I would hit Kauai - but I am biased. :) No matter where, use that specific forum to help you - getting lodging suggestions. You might have good luck with vrbo.com as well as hotels - as it would save you $$ as well. Use hotwire and other searches as well - I was just checking, and hotwire had a good car rental rate. Good luck! :)
Split the time equal or more on Oahu. There is a lot more to see %26amp; do on Oahu than any other island.
